GEM Media:
Our Vision

GEM envisions a growing body of media made available to educate around issues of gender and gender diversity. Media is the container in which we embed the information for the purpose of education.

GEM is currently embarking on a major new effort, GenderVision. Previously, GEM produced two independent efforts: GenderTalk radio and YellowPanther video.

GenderVision

GenderVision is a new Television program, Online and via Cable, a respected forum for discussions of issues of gender, including (but not limited to) transgenderism. GenderVision is in production, having now produced a number of programs. You can learn more about GenderVision by clicking here.

Other Educational Video

GEM is also engaged in producing educational video on the issues of gender and transgenderism. You can view all GEM video productions by clicking here.

GenderTalk

GenderTalk has been, for over 11 years, the world's leading forum for live discussions of issues of gender, including (but not limited to) transgenderism. GenderTalk is no longer in active production, but over 400 programs are archived online at gendertalk.com where it enjoys a growing listening audience. We are particularly proud of our listening audience, which includes people of widely varying gender and identities, including GLBT and heterosexual persons. You can learn more about GenderTalk radio by clicking here.

Our huge library of audio interviews comprises a significant and unparalleled resource whose value will increase over time. Educators frequently write us asking if they can use our archives in their courses to better educate their students about the complexity of gender issues.

YellowPanther
Video

YellowPanther was a video production effort headed and inspired by Gordene O. MacKenzie. Our only effort so far is a short musical flashback to the candlelight vigil for murdered transseuxal Rita Hester, which took place in November of 1998. The video is a moving presentation which dramatizes the suffering of those who grieve for trans victims of hateful violence, and is helpful in communicating to audiences on a powerfully emotional level. You can learn more about "In Memory of Rita" here.
